Ballet Class Up Close

Ballet Class Up Close

The Staatsballett Berlin takes a class on stage

Taking a peek at the Staatsballett Berlin dancers during morning class is a rare opportunity. However, the Staatsballett’s most popular event series, Ballet Class Up Close makes it possible: on the stages of the opera houses, you can catch a glimpse at the everyday life of a ballet dancer. Find out what they do on a daily basis to prepare for rehearsals and performances, working on the essential foundation of their art which they master so skilfully. What seems light and airy on stage requires hard work and relentless discipline. Therein lies the fascination which never seizes to capture the audience.

Berlin's opera houses open their doors

On three weekends in late summer, Berlin’s opera houses open their doors to celebrate the new season with all the members of the chorus and orchestra, the stage, costume and make-up departments, and curious visitors of all ages. Whether you are an opera or ballet connoisseur or a newcomer to the world of opera and ballet, the programme for the popular Opening Parties offers exciting behindthe- scenes glimpses, information about premieres and rehearsals, lots of music to listen to or make yourself—and, of course, ballet! Our Tanz ist KLASSE! education programme offers workshops for young and old, and we give insights into the day-to-day work of our dancers. The programme will be announced soon, and admission is free.
