Choreographer

Born in Sweden in 1984, Alexander Ekman danced with the Royal Swedish Ballet, the Cullberg Ballet and the NDT II. He ended his dancing career in 2006 to devote himself entirely to choreography. Since then he has been in international demand and develops works for the Cullberg Ballet, the Compañia Nacional de Danza, the Gothenburg Ballet, the Bern Ballet, the Dresden Semperoper Ballet, the Ballet de l'Opéra du Rhin, the Royal Swedish Ballet, the Norwegian National Ballet, the Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet and the Boston Ballet. In 2011 Ekman worked as a teacher and choreographer at the Julliard School in New York City. From 2011 to 2013 he was Associate Choreographer at Nederlands Dans Theater. He is also involved in film production. Alexander Ekman already composed the music for his works himself, often he also creates the stage design.
