Rufus Didwiszus
Born in 1967 in Cologne, he studied stage and costume design in Stuttgart under Jürgen Rose and works internationally as a freelance stage designer in theatre, opera, and dance productions. He has collaborated with directors and choreographers such as Christian Spuck, Barrie Kosky, Thomas Ostermeier, Sasha Waltz, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Tom Kühnel, Stefan Larsson, Tomas Alfredson, Christian Lollike, and Christian Stückl at leading opera houses and theaters, including the Zurich Opera House, the Komische Oper Berlin, the Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz, the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, the Deutsches Theater in Berlin, the Schauspielhaus in Hamburg, the Münchner Kammerspiele, the Paris Opera, the Royal Opera House in Stockholm, and the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow. His engagements have also taken him to festivals such as the Salzburg Festival, where he designed the stage for Barrie Kosky's production of Orphée aux enfers in 2019, the Vienna Festival, the Festival d'Avignon, Aix-en-Provence, and the Edinburgh International Festival. Together with Joanna Dudley, he creates his own music theater performances, among others at the Sophiensæle and the Schaubühne in Berlin, as well as at BOZAR in Brussels.
