Tieni Burkhalter
Tieni Burkhalter studied fine arts at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste, specializing in video and video installations. After primarily showcasing his works in galleries and experimental film festivals, he has been working in the theatre since 2009. As a video producer, he has a close association with the Zurich Opera House. His stage work has also taken him to theatres in Berlin, Hamburg, Paris, Moscow, Oslo, and Savonlinna.
At the Opernhaus Zürich, he collaborated with Andreas Homoki on productions such as The Flying Dutchman, The Land of Smiles, Rheingold, Siegfried, and Die Walküre. He worked with Evgeny Titov on Lessons in Love and Violence, Jan Philipp Gloger on Die Csárdásfürstin and Le nozze di Figaro, Adele Thomas on Il trovatore, Rainer Holzapfel on Die Odyssee, and Nina Russi on Coraline. For the Zurich Ballet, he produced videos for Christian Spuck's Anna Karenina and The Little Match Girl, Marcos Morau's Nachtträume, Edward Clug's Faust, and Douglas Lee's A-Life. Additionally, he collaborated with Philipp Himmelmann on Aida at the Savonlinna Opera Festival and has worked for several years on Dmitri Tcherniakov's productions, including Pelléas et Mélisande and Die Sache Makropulos at the Opernhaus Zürich, Senza Sangue/Herzog Blaubarts Burg and Elektra at the Staatsoper Hamburg, La Fille de Neige and Les Troyens at the Opéra National de Paris, and Tristan und Isolde at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin.<o:p></o:p>
