Marc Salicrú

Profile

Marc Salicrú hails from the coastal city of Mataró. He works interdisciplinary as a set designer, lighting designer, and drummer. His career began at the Centre for Creation and Contemporary Thought Can Xalant (2009–2013) while he was still completing his degree in scenography at the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona. His interest in crossing artistic boundaries led him most recently (2020) to Marseille, where he participated in the MOOC Create in Public Space training program offered by FAI-AR.

He has collaborated with several Spanish directors and, with their teams and a variety of projects, has worked in numerous theaters such as the Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona, Teatre Nacional de Catalunya, Teatre Lliure, Centro Cultural Belem Lisbon, Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf, Teatro Maria Guerrero Madrid, and festivals to which collaborative projects were invited. Directors and collectives include Marcos Morau and La Veronal, Jaume Plensa, Andrés Lima, Silvia Delagneau, David Selvas, Jordi Oriol, Ángel Llácer, and Daniel Anglés.

He was commissioned by Spanish television to design sets for the Goya Awards ceremonies in 2019 and 2020. In 2020, he received, among others, a critics' award for the best lighting concept for the production El chico de la ultima fila or the BBVA Theater Prize 2018 for Caravan, which was produced with the VVAA collective founded by him. Additionally, he is a musician in the band «The Free Fall.»
