Sol León

Sol León was born in Cordoba, Spain, and joined the Nederlands Dans Theater in 1987, initially with NDT2 under the artistic direction of Arlette van Boven. Two years later, she moved to NDT1 and danced there under the artistic direction of Jiří Kylián until 2003.

León and Lightfoot have been a choreographic duo since 1989, creating over sixty premieres together for NDT, for which they have received numerous awards. From 2002 to 2020, León and Lightfoot served as resident choreographers of NDT. Additionally, León worked as the artistic advisor of the company from 2012 to 2020. Since 2020, Sol León has been working as a freelance choreographer.
