Soraya Bruno

Profile

Soraya trained as a professional dancer at the School of the Teatro Colon ballet school in Buenos Aires. After graduating she danced professionally with several companies in Argentina before joining the Ballet de Santiago, Chile.

Subsequently, she joined the Staatsballet Berlin in 2003. In 2015, while still dancing with the company, Soraya embarked on her academic studies. She graduated in 2016 from the Professional Dancers’ Postgraduate Teaching Certificate RAD London and then continued her frurther education with an MAE Masters of Arts in Education (dance teaching) RAD/Bath University London.

Soraya founded and runs together with Anneli Chasemore the Health Department of Staatsballett Berlin supporting dancers in all areas of injury prevention and performance enhancement. 

From 2021 to 2023, she was the Programme Manager of the Staatsballett Berlin Enhance Mentorship Programme. 

Parallel to her work with professional dancers, she is passionate about exploring and developing the further application of somatics in dance and theatre. She is currently finishing her studies as a Feldenkrais practitioner. 

Soraya is also an inclusive dance teacher with a particular focus on dance for people suffering from M.S and Parkinson’s disease, and co-founded IntoDance e.V.
