Insights into the new production
On the occasion of the upcoming premiere of the dance evening Minus 16 at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Staatsballett Berlin invites you to a premiere discussion that delves into the unique features of two exceptional choreographies: Minus 16 by Ohad Naharin and SAABA by Sharon Eyal. Ohad Naharin, one of the most renowned contemporary Israeli choreographers, is the creator of the Gaga movement language, which promotes body awareness and creative freedom of movement. Minus 16 is one of his iconic works, celebrated for its rhythmic energy and surprising moments.
Sharon Eyal's choreographies captivate with their distinctive style, combining emotional depth and powerful dynamics. SAABA showcases her hypnotic movements set to a new sound spectrum.
Guests include Léo Lérus, who has staged SAABA and will share insights from his long-standing collaboration with Sharon Eyal, as well as Ian Robinson (staging Minus 16), who, as a trained Gaga teacher, will discuss his work. The panel will also feature dancers from the Staatsballett Berlin, who will share their personal impressions from rehearsals and Gaga classes. The discussion will be moderated by Christian Spuck and Katja Wiegand.
